You’re Not Alone

Today, we’re talking about something I think all of us have felt at one time or another: loneliness.

Whether you're surrounded by people or spending most of your time solo, there can still be moments where you feel completely alone.

But here’s the good news—you’re not. Not even for a second. God promises He will never leave us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) – “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Loneliness hits all of us at different times. Ever felt lonely in a crowd? Or at the dinner table?

You’re not weird—it’s actually pretty common. Even the most outgoing people can feel isolated. Sometimes, we just want someone to see us—not just be near us. That kind of connection matters.

Let’s talk about why that happens and what we can do about it.

For me, I notice it happens more when I feel like I’m missing something. Recently, I realized I’ve been missing my close friends. Two of them live far away, so it’s hard to feel included. But the thing is, when we start to feel that void, we tend to reach out to other things.

It was brought to my attention that not only was I missing my friends, but in the seeking, I was looking to social media for connection—instead of turning to God and asking Him to help me.

God is the one and only One who can truly fill the void of our loneliness. He knows what we need and provides exactly that. So don’t be like me—seek God first.

Even when we feel completely unseen, God is right there. He doesn’t wait for us to “get over it.” He meets us in it, holds us through it, and reminds us we’re never walking through it alone.

Let’s talk about those God-sent people who show up at just the right time.

I had a friend enter my life unexpectedly and I know without a doubt that God orchestrated this friendship.

So, whether it’s a text, a phone call, or a totally random encounter—God often reminds us we’re not alone through others.

If God put someone on your heart to reach out to then follow that and reach out to them, it will not only help them but it will probably help you as well.

Let’s Get Into Shifting the Perspective

We’re leaning into the idea that loneliness doesn’t mean you’re unloved or forgotten. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet that God speaks the loudest.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) – “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Sometimes we look for answers, fixes, or crowds to fill the silence. But true comfort often comes in stillness—with God’s presence filling the space our hearts feel is missing.

Honestly, sometimes I try to fill the space myself by telling someone I miss them or sending them a gift, hoping I’ll get a response that will fix what I’m feeling.

But often, it doesn’t change anything. Why? Because it’s not for them to fulfill what I’m seeking.

It’s so crazy how we look to the world and to people for something only God can fulfill.

We are so blessed that Jesus experienced loneliness—abandonment, rejection, even silence from Heaven in His darkest hour.

There is understanding—that’s why He came.

So that He can say, “I get it.”

When you cry, He gets it.

He doesn’t look away—He leans in closer.

Seek Him.

Instead of rushing to escape loneliness, what if we used it as a sacred invitation?

A moment to pause, breathe, and say, “Lord, meet me here.”

You’d be surprised how clearly you can hear Him then.

Here's a simple prayer you can carry all day: “Lord, remind me I’m not alone today. Be nearby. Let me feel it.”

Even that whisper of a prayer can change everything.

In a prayer like this, we trust the Lord. We are hopeful that He will fulfill us.

We are allowing our faith in Him to guide us toward what we know only He can do.

So, What Can We Do When Those Lonely Days Come?

From small choices to deeper steps of faith, you have options—and more importantly, you have hope.

Sometimes the hardest part of breaking loneliness is just making that first move. A simple “Hey, how are you?” message might feel big or small depending on where you are in your loneliness but the thing is it might start a lifeline of connection.

Jump into the Word of God and figure out why you’re feeling lonely.

Is it community you’re missing—or deeper connection with God?

Sometimes, as new Christ followers, we can feel lonely walking this new path. But we’re not just saved into faith—we’re saved into a family. You weren’t meant to figure this out alone. Many churches offer small groups, opportunities to serve, and of course, just showing up for church keeps us going.

Community is an important part of walking with God.

You are part of something eternal, even in your loneliness. Heaven is full of connection, and here on earth, God is constantly weaving people, places, and purpose into your story.

You’re not invisible. You’re not forgotten. And you’re definitely not alone.

God sees you.

He hears every unspoken ache.

And He walks beside you—always.

That’s not a maybe—that’s a promise.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) – “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

God is with us.

I just want you to remember: No matter what you're facing… No matter how quiet or heavy the day feels… You are never alone.

The God who formed the stars walks right beside you.

And you’ve got a whole community of fellow walkers walking this path just like you.

Keep holding on.

Keep reaching out.

You are not alone.
