Worship Louder

ree

Today’s conversation is - Worship Louder—and I don’t mean cranking up the volume, although… that never hurts on the way to work, right?

We’re talking about turning up our worship in how we live, how we love, and how we lean on the Lord. John 4:23 tells us that God is actually looking for true worshipers—those who worship in spirit and in truth.

Today, we’re going to unpack what that looks like in real life. My hope is that this will be fun and encouraging with relatable stories, thoughtful questions, and your favorite music. Let’s worship louder with our lives!

John 4:23 (NLT) “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”

Worship is a lifestyle, but oftentimes we just think it’s something we only do during church.

I often listen to worship music when working out, making dinner, and cleaning because I want to incorporate God into everything. Plus, it helps me to keep going and stay motivated because it’s positive.

But worship isn’t just about music. It’s about worshiping God in all things—like getting a close parking spot at the grocery store when it’s raining, sitting outside taking in God’s great nature, or in the prayers as we walk or before bed.

Anywhere we can give thanks to the Lord and praise Him for what He has done for us is where we can worship… so basically, anywhere, anytime.

When it comes to worshiping the Lord, gratitude is a great way to start our day and to praise the Lord for what He has provided. The very breath in our lungs is something to be thankful for. The start of a new day is something to be thankful for. God’s grace every day is something to be thankful for.

When we do this, we are posturing our hearts to what God has provided and to how good He is. This starts our day with goodness and joy and not with the busyness our day may hold.

Develop a heart full of gratitude and commit to daily Bible reading and prayer.

Start each morning with a simple “Thank you, God.”

When during your day do you naturally turn your attention to God?

This is a great question to think about because sometimes I know we just wake up and go and maybe think of God when something goes wrong. This becomes our go-to habit… we think we’ve got it all handled until something comes up and knocks us off course. This is why we talk about being intentional with our time with God—because we need to spend time with Him so it is natural for us to turn to Him at all times, not just specific times.

God is interested in the day-to-day just as He is the big stuff. So, let’s learn that in every moment of life, it needs to be natural to turn to Him.

Worshiping louder comes with the recognition of how spirit and truth equal honest worship.

Rough seasons have come and gone, and some were easy and natural to worship through, and others were so hard—I mean too hard to even think about being thankful. But the Bible teaches us to worship through the highs and lows. We can see that in Paul’s life as we read through his journey of preaching the Good News, and we can see it in the life of David as he was running and hiding and still worshiping God through it all.

What this means is that we can worship when we are joyful and also when we are frustrated or confused. We need to be coming to God in spirit and in truth so that we can be pure and honest in our worship.

Worship is all about being present and posturing our hearts to God and coming to Him in all things—with all things.

We all have off days or off seasons, so how can you invite God into your “off” times?

Do you have a go-to when you are struggling, or does it take a bit to process and then invite God in? Think on this so that when the “off” times present themselves, you know exactly what to do and what works best for you to get you back in alignment with God—and know without a doubt that He is with you and will provide what you are needing.

Now let's get into the kind of worship that moves us—literally and spiritually. Whether it’s through tears, celebration, or just keeping the faith when it’s hard—worship changes things. Let’s go deeper.

John 4:23 (NLT) “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”

Worship lifts your perspective. It reminds you who’s in charge.

When our perspective changes on the fact that God is in control, we can be overcome with peace and joy. There is this light-heartedness that we start to carry. It truly opens the eyes of our hearts to the scripture Matthew 11:28–30, which says, “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”

Worship is a way of life.

John 4:23 says the Father is seeking true worshipers. That means He’s not after your perfect performance—He’s after your heart. So today, turn up your worship, not just the volume. Love louder. Pray stronger. Smile bigger. Worship with your life.

Worship isn’t just something you do. It’s how you live when no one else is watching. Let’s live it out!
