"Why Me?"

Today we’re sitting with a question that a lot of us ask quietly… sometimes out loud… sometimes with tears in our eyes: “Why me?”

Not in a dramatic way — just in a very human way.

Life hands us things we didn’t sign up for, moments we didn’t ask for, and challenges we don’t feel prepared for.

But God meets us in that question with steady love and purpose.

Let’s walk through it together — gently, honestly, and with hope.

You know, we ask “Why me?” in the tough moments… but sometimes we ask it in the silly ones too.

Like when the car ahead of you gets the last parking spot.

Or when your coffee spills before you even take a sip.

Life isn’t always smooth — but it’s not all heaviness either.

There’s good woven into every day if we look for it.

Speaking of good woven into everything — I read about a group of elementary kids in one town who wrote thank-you notes to every worker in their local grocery store, just to say, “You matter.”

No matter what you are questioning, remember that you matter to God.

Small gestures still carry big kindness.

When we bring the question “Why me?” to God, Scripture answers with something gentle and true. Not an explanation… but a promise.

Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.”

God doesn’t always explain why — but He always offers:

Presence.

Strength.

Help.

Comfort.

You’re not carrying your life alone.

You’re not walking through your circumstances unnoticed.

God is closer than the questions.

On the lighter side… sometimes the question “Why me?” shows up in everyday moments.

Like when you turn on the dishwasher and discover you forgot to put the soap in.

Or the moment you drop your phone — face down — and have to decide if you’re emotionally ready to flip it over.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

Have you ever watched those videos of people trying virtual reality goggles for the first time… and immediately reaching out, stumbling, or knocking something over?

Chaotic — but funny.

Life gives us more sweetness than we sometimes notice.

Let me give you some encouragement today — something you can speak over yourself:

“God is with me in every step, and I am not walking this alone.”

Sometimes saying it out loud helps steady the heart.

When we say truth out loud, we actually hear it — not just think it.

There’s something powerful about hearing truth spoken.

You ever have a morning where everything is fine… but just slightly off?

Your sock is twisted.

Your hair won’t cooperate.

Your coffee tastes different and you don't know why.

Those little “Why me?” moments remind us we’re human. They don’t define the day — they’re just small bumps on the way to better things.

If we allow ourselves to dwell on these things too much, they can set the tone for our whole day. But when we remember they’re small and choose to focus on the bigger picture — what God has for us — we realize we are defined by what God calls us to, not by annoyances.

When life feels heavy, it’s easy to assume God is silent.

But sometimes the question “Why me?” becomes the doorway to discovering God’s strength inside us.

2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us:“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

Not answers.Not explanations.

Grace.

Enough grace for today… tomorrow… and the next day.

God isn’t pushing you away — He’s pulling you closer.

The question “Why me?” doesn’t have to shake your faith — sometimes it’s what quiets your heart and points you back to the One who carries you.

Let’s take a moment to pray. We all need to be reminded that God is the One who speaks truth into our hearts and minds.

Lord, for every heart asking, “Why me?” today, would You bring comfort. Bring clarity where it’s needed, peace where there’s fear, and strength where there’s discouragement. Remind us that You are with us — steady, present, and working in ways we cannot see. Guide us through the questions and into Your hope. Amen.

You know, in real life, the “Why me?” moments often show up on ordinary days.

A flat tire.

A bill you forgot about.

A sudden change of plans.

Life rarely asks permission before surprising us.

But faith isn’t built in perfect conditions — it’s built in the messy middle.

It grows through the questions.

Through the patience.

Through the days when strength feels thin.

And in those moments, God reminds us: “You’re not forgotten, and you’re not alone.”

Here’s today’s Question of the Day to think about as you go:

“Where have you seen God give strength in a moment when you didn’t feel strong?”

God never wastes a season.

Even the ones that leave us wondering “Why me?” are shaping something in us — compassion, resilience, trust, or deeper dependence on Him.

You’re not walking through anything by accident.

You’re walking through it with purpose… and with God beside you.
