Truth vs. lies. We’re surrounded by messages—some uplifting, some discouraging, and some that are just plain false. Lies can sneak in quietly, telling us we’re not enough, that God isn’t near, or that our mistakes define us. But God’s Word cuts through the noise with unshakable truth.
John 8:32 (NLT) says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Isn’t that powerful? Truth doesn’t just inform us—it frees us. Whether it’s the quiet self-doubt whispering in your heart or the cultural noise shouting at you from every direction, God’s truth is stronger, steadier, and lasting. So, let’s unpack how we can lean into God’s truth today and live in the freedom He offers.
I think the biggest lie that we carry with us is that we are not enough.
If the enemy can give us some pretty convincing thoughts and what he calls proof, then he’s caught us hook, line, and sinker. This is so true.
But once we realize our worth through God’s eyes and know that He says that we are enough—and we truly believe that—our outlook on life changes, and how we see ourselves changes.
That is one lie that we need to find truth in God’s Word and stand against.
Both Psalm 139:14 and Ephesians 2:10 speak to the truth of being enough.
The truth really sets us free and as we learn to lean into the truths of the Bible over the lies that the world brings to us, we have to evaluate what we think of ourselves, because—I don’t know about you—but the way I speak to myself can be full-on lies.
My husband said something to me the other day that I do not remember, but I do remember my response… it was, “Well, I just see myself very differently than others see me, I guess.” I remember my tone being down and judgmental.
We have heard so many things said about us and to us over our lives, and some of those things stick and some don’t—and usually, the ones that stick are the ones that we speak over ourselves quite often.
So, join me and let’s learn to catch ourselves as we speak to ourselves, and let’s do our best to remember what the Lord says about us over the noise of everything else.
Relearning and unlearning are things is something that never stops.
I have unlearned so much, and in the place of it, I’ve had to relearn—and a lot of that new stuff has come from God’s Word. I needed to replace lies and thoughts and how I handle things with the truth of God’s Word.
“When God’s Word gets inside of us, it becomes the new way we process life. It rearranges our thoughts, our motives, our needs, and our desires. Our soul was tailor-made to be filled with God and His truth; therefore, it seeps into every part of us and fills us completely.” – Lysa TerKeurst Embraced book
So, as you go about learning and growing, don’t get too frustrated with yourself—just keep going, keep God at the center of it all. Dive into the truths God gives and let it shape who you are.
Truth vs. Lies—and wow, isn’t it crazy how convincing lies can seem sometimes? They sneak in through comparison, doubt, or even that voice that tells you your past defines your future. But here’s the promise that never wavers: “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
Let’s get practical about recognizing those sneaky lies for what they are and choosing freedom instead. God’s truth doesn’t shift with moods or headlines—it’s steady, unchanging, and life-giving. So, let’s walk together in the kind of truth that brings real peace.
Choosing freedom over some sneaky lies…
What is one lie you didn’t even know you believed until you heard it or it was pointed out to you?
Whatever it is, have you tried to correct it? Have you talked with God about it so that you can move forward in truth?
If you’re like me, you can be stubborn, and when you say something and then someone points it out to you and gives encouragement, you don’t believe them or take their encouragement. I think this happens because that sneaky lie has been sitting there for a long time, driving a wedge between you and the truth.
This is why we need to ask God to help us know what a lie is, because when we do, we are better able to walk in freedom with knowing the truth.
Our hearts and desires can keep us from knowing the freedom and truth that God has for us.
We can be so sure about something that we can’t see past that—or our want for that—and we can miss what God might be trying to tell us or show us about it.
It’s like learning a lie that someone told you, but you don’t believe that that person would lie to you, so you just push it aside, thinking that maybe the one who told you the truth was the one causing the issue.
God is always telling us the truth, and the enemy is always the one to cause issues. And when we learn that God is truth, then we find freedom—because we will know who the liar is, what the lies are, and we are able to see and understand more clearly.
Truth vs. Lies. Maybe as you’ve been reading, a few lies you’ve believed have come to mind—things like “I’m not enough” or “God couldn’t possibly love me after that.” But listen again to Jesus’ words in John 8:32: “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
God’s truth isn’t just a nice idea—it’s freedom. It cuts through the noise, the doubt, and the shame to remind you who you are and Whose you are. As we dive into this last hour, let’s talk about walking boldly in that freedom and letting His truth shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
Let’s learn to walk boldly and confidently in the fact that God is the truth and that He is the only One who can be completely honest in His knowledge of us and everything—because then we are better able to stand firm in our beliefs with boldness.
We need a voice to speak louder than everything that we are bombarded with, and when we walk in relationship with the Lord and we learn to know His voice, that voice will be the one we will learn to hear above it all.
So, as you learn to navigate around the noise, shame, and doubt, remember God and His Word hold the truth that you need, and with God, you can have the freedom you seek.
God allows us to walk with discernment so that we are able to recognize truth from lies and to be bold in stating that we are Christ followers and will walk the path He gives us, knowing that He will not be persuaded otherwise.
It is in wisdom and truth that we can walk boldly, knowing that God is truth and gives us freedom from the things of this world, including lies.
So, friends, ask God to help you learn what lies you have been holding on to and how to replace them with truth so that you too can walk boldly in His freedom.
Let’s remember that lies are loud, but truth is lasting. Lies try to trap us in fear, shame, or insecurity. But truth—the kind only God gives—sets us free to walk boldly, loved, and chosen.
John 8:32 reminds us that knowing the truth isn’t just about head knowledge; it’s about heart transformation. When you feel the weight of a lie creeping in—whether it’s about who you are, your worth, or your future—replace it with God’s Word. Speak truth over your life: you are loved, forgiven, and equipped.
So, as you go, choose truth over lies. Let God’s Word be louder than the world. And remember, the freedom He offers is yours to live out, share, and celebrate.
