Trusting the Process

Trusting the process isn’t easy. We like quick results, clear answers, and immediate change. But God often works through processes — not instant fixes.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

That verse reminds us that God’s timing isn’t broken just because it’s different from ours. The delay doesn’t mean denial — it means development.

Sometimes God uses waiting to strengthen our faith, deepen our roots, and prepare us for what’s next. He’s not just working on your situation — He’s working on you.

So, if you’re in a season that feels stuck or uncertain, remember this: the process is part of His promise.

We have talked about waiting and patience a bit here a few times, and that is because it comes up very often.

We will always be in a waiting period for one reason or another.

It’s those long-term waiting periods where we need to keep the faith and stay in prayer. It can feel like our prayers are going nowhere during those times, but that is just not true. God hears all of them, but He knows the time for the answers — and we don’t.

God’s timing is very different; He’s not bound to it like we are.

So, though it seems like it will never happen, it will — we just have to trust in the process, and that process is in God’s hands.

God’s timing and process are sovereign, purposeful, growth-oriented, and beyond our control.

We are impatient, we have deadlines, and we are decision-focused.

So, as you can imagine, we just do not have the same viewpoint as God.

With this, it is hard to not only trust the process but also to trust God. When we are wavering, we seek other avenues so that we are able to get the results that we want.

We aren’t trusting the process when we do this — we are taking control and basically telling God that we just don’t trust in Him or His timing.

Trusting the process means that we need to hold strong to the fact that God is truth and let our faith stay strong because we trust in Him.

The U.S. has different time zones, and we take those into account when needed, yet when we pray and ask God for something, we struggle to consider God’s timing.

We are willing in some instances to wait, and in some we just aren’t.

Like at the bank, we are willing to wait for the teller to take care of our money needs we are there for, but when we go to a drive-through, we want our food to be done quicker and quicker.

The same applies to God. We are willing to wait for some things but not all things.

God operates on a different clock than we do, and we need to remember that when we go to Him in prayer.

His timing is purposeful and perfect.

There’s something powerful about people who can keep trusting when they can’t see results.

Maybe you’ve been praying about something for months — or years — and nothing seems to be moving. It’s tempting to give up or assume God has forgotten. But Habakkuk reminds us that God’s plans are never late.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

The process might not look like progress, but it is.

You don’t plant a seed and dig it up the next day to see if it’s growing. You water it, you wait, and you trust that something is happening underground.

That’s faith — believing that God is working behind the scenes, even when it feels silent on your end.

So, if it seems slow in coming, don’t lose heart. Keep watering your faith with prayer, obedience, and patience. Growth is happening — even if you can’t see it yet.

In Proverbs, it tells us to direct our children on the right path, and when they are older, they won’t leave it.

That is the hope, isn’t it?

We are to raise our kids and give them advice and prepare them to live life in this world. Everyone has their own way of parenting, but one thing we all need to do is direct our kids to God.

Sure, they will go their own paths, and they will make choices that we would never make, but if we have done as God tells us to and bring them up knowing Him, we can hope that they will stay with Him or come back to Him when they are older.

We plant the seed, and God waters it.

I was confused by God’s timing a time or two.

He opened the door and allowed me to go back to a job that I loved, but then within six months He had changed my heart and wanted me to move on to a different job that He had opened the door for.

Why would He open a door for a job if it was only going to be for a short time?

I learned that that was twofold. It was an answer to prayer for me but also that it was for His timing and not mine, because that job needed me there just for that short amount of time so I could properly train who was to come after.

Without that time, I may have always longed to go back to that job even though that was not where God wanted me.

Sometimes the things that we go through can be confusing to us, but to God there is no confusion because He knows what is ahead.

If you are in a time of confusion right now, ask God for clarity. He is not a God of confusion, so you can trust that He will help you to understand what it is you are going through.

Trusting the process doesn’t mean pretending it’s easy. It means believing God has a plan in the hard.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

The process often stretches us — because it’s where faith grows muscles. It’s where our dependence shifts from our own understanding to God’s perfect wisdom.

Think about Joseph — betrayed, forgotten, and imprisoned for years before God raised him up to lead a nation. The process wasn’t punishment — it was preparation.

And maybe that’s what God is doing in your life too. He’s preparing you for something that requires patience, humility, and resilience.

When we stop fighting the process and start trusting the One guiding it, peace replaces pressure.

God wants us to be independent but also to always depend on Him.

We need to be able to do things on our own, but we need to depend on and trust in God, who is our provider for all things.

We can put the work in but always know that we can trust that through the process we go through, He will always provide our exact need.

When we trust the process, we are better able to move through life knowing that as we work, God’s hand is in all things. He has gone before to prepare the way.

Our faith is firm in the One who hears all, sees all, and provides all.

When we trust the process, we are better able to go with the flow of things because we know God has a plan, we know that His timing is perfect, and that His ways are better than ours.

It is in the full understanding of God’s power that we are able to give Him control and not worry.

Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Trust God’s process even when it seems like it doesn’t make sense. He sees the full picture where we can only see and comprehend what is right in front of us.

Trusting the process means fully trusting the Lord.

Wherever you are in your journey, hold on to this truth: God is not wasting your waiting.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently…” That means your story isn’t over — it’s unfolding.

God’s timing is perfect, even when it feels painfully slow. His process is purposeful, even when it’s not comfortable. And His promises — every single one — will come to pass right on time.

So, take a deep breath and say, “Lord, I trust You — even in the process.”

Because He’s never late, never careless, and never done working.
