Today, we’re talking about something we all need at one point or another—endurance. Whether you’re going through a tough season, working toward a big goal, or just trying to keep going day by day, endurance is key to staying strong.
Endurance is more than just 'getting through' something. It’s about continuing to trust and rely on God’s strength to carry us through every challenge, even when we feel like giving up.
Here is a verse about endurance that can help us our it is in James 1:12 and it says, “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
Endurance isn’t just about the here and now—it has eternal rewards!
We all need a little pick me up from time to time and so we need to be reminded that endurance isn’t just about survival. It’s a process that shapes us. When we endure hardship, God uses those experiences to refine us, build our faith, and deepen our relationship with Him. It’s through those trials that we grow stronger.
Let’s look at Romans 5:3-4, which says, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.” Endurance builds our character and leads us to hope.
So, if you’re going through something tough today, know that it’s not in vain. God is using this time to strengthen you for what’s ahead. Endurance doesn’t come from our own strength but from leaning on God every step of the way.
It’s easy to get weary in our faith, especially when we’re waiting on God to answer prayers or to bring us through difficult seasons. But God promises to renew our strength when we rely on Him. Sometimes, endurance looks like trusting Him, even when the answer hasn’t come yet. That’s the hardest part, trust in the waiting because if you are like me, you often want some kind of reassurance so that we can feel confident that all will be ok. But the Bible tells us that what we need to do is rely on our faith and trust the Lord and thank Him for the answer while in the waiting.
2 Thessalonians 3:5 tells us, “May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.” Oh, may the Lord lead us and give us the understanding needed as we endure.
If you’re waiting on God today, take heart—He sees your endurance, and He will give you the strength you need to keep going. He hasn’t forgotten you, and His timing is perfect.
There have been times in my life where I felt like I couldn’t take another step. When life feels so heavy because of what all needs to be done or emotionally worked through we can really question what is next…how I can keep going…. For me I literally had to take a step toward the Lord and not toward me pain. When I made the choice to keep my eyes on Jesus and trust Him to carry me through, I found the strength I needed.
Endurance is not about never feeling weak, it’s about turning to God for strength when we do.
Life is full of challenges—whether it’s financial struggles, health problems, or personal trials. But just like running a race, the key is not to focus on the pain but to keep our eyes on the finish line. For us, that finish line is Jesus, who gives us the strength to keep going.
Hebrews 12:1 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
No matter that life throws at us we need to stay focused on Jesus as we endure, and we will be able to endure everything because with God guiding us, we will make it through all the highs and lows of life.
What challenges are you facing today that require endurance? How are you keeping your focus on Jesus through the trials? I’d love to hear how God is helping you endure.
Endurance is a key part of our spiritual growth, and God promises to be with us every step of the way.
Remember, endurance isn’t something we muster up on our own—it’s a gift from God. When we place our hope in Him, He renews our strength and helps us run the race He has set before us. So, whatever you’re facing today, know that God is with you, and He will give you the endurance to finish strong.
Here an encouraging verse to hold on to today from 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” May we all run our race with endurance and keep the faith until the end.
I pray today that you feel God’s strength and know that with that you can and will endure what the life brings. Your faith in God will help you through.
