Seen & Known

ree

Today we’re talking about being seen and known.

Have you ever felt invisible? Like you’re doing all the things—showing up, giving your best—but no one really sees what’s going on inside? We all crave to be seen and known, and the beautiful truth is—God already does.

Psalm 139 reminds us that He’s not distant or distracted. He sees every detail of our lives—our highs, our lows, our coffee-fueled mornings, and our late-night worries. You are never overlooked or forgotten.

Today, we’re talking about what it means to live fully known and deeply loved by a God who notices everything—because you matter to Him.

Psalm 139:1–4 (NLT) “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”

Hide and seek is a game where we intentionally play to be sought after, but we try not to get caught. Isn’t that funny? We play a game where we hide from others and do our best not to be seen—so we can keep hiding again and again.

But life is the opposite, isn’t it? In life, we want to be seen and known. We don’t usually hide from others, but we do try to stand out—sometimes on purpose, sometimes without realizing it.

No matter whether we’re hiding or not, God sees us. That’s perfect for us because it means we don’t have to try to hide or try to be seen. We are already seen and fully known by Him.

Walk today confidently, knowing that God sees you and knows you—no matter what’s going on.

Depression is something that’s really high right now in our society, and much of that is because people don’t feel seen or heard. They’re sitting in loneliness, wondering if anyone cares.

If that’s you today, I want to tell you—you are seen. I want to encourage you to reach out to God. Pray and ask Him to help you feel that truth—that you’re not alone and that He’s right there with you.

When you seek the Lord, He’ll help you know, understand, and feel that He is always with you.

My friend, if you need someone to pray with you, don’t hesitate to give us a call here at KJIC. We’d love to pray for you. Or, if you’d rather, we have a prayer form on our website under the Connect tab.

We all find ourselves aware of things—we notice a lot and take in a lot of information. But when I think about all we notice, I can’t help but imagine how much greater God’s awareness is.

We miss a lot, but God misses nothing. We can’t even imagine that, because we feel overwhelmed just by what we encounter, yet God sees and knows everything.

So as we go through life not really understanding how God does it, we can be reassured that even though this world may miss what we say or do, God does not. He is aware of everything.

Isn’t it comforting to know you don’t have to explain yourself to God? You don’t have to pretend, perform, or package things nicely. He already knows your heart—the motives behind what you do, even the things you wish were different.

When we start to see ourselves through His eyes, the striving quiets. You are known, seen, and still chosen. Let that sink in for a minute.

Psalm 139:1–4 (NLT) “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”

So many of us have those Ring doorbells—you can be away from home and still see who comes to your door, even talk to them through it.

Let’s use that as an analogy: it’s like we’re walking around with a camera focused on us all the time. We can talk to God, and He can talk to us anytime. But His “camera” goes deeper—He sees our hearts and minds.

Nothing gets past the One who is all-knowing.

The other day, I was on KJIC’s Facebook page and saw a post by one of the artists we follow and play here—Jason Crabb. In his post, he was encouraging us to remember that God is faithful, always weaving things together through every season.

It was such a great reminder that we’re all in different places in life—and no matter where you are, God sees you and knows what you need. You never have to pretend with God. You can come to Him open and vulnerable, and He will comfort, love, and fulfill your needs.

You are seen and known.

Sometimes we feel unseen because we’re looking for validation in all the wrong places. We want the “likes,” the compliments, the approval. But God’s gaze is constant—it doesn’t fade when life gets messy or when we miss the mark.

He sees your effort, your faithfulness, and the quiet ways you love others when no one’s watching.

Being seen by God reminds us that our worth isn’t found in being noticed—it’s found in being known.

Psalm 139:1–4 (NLT) “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”

How many of you have sought validation? Guess what—that’s all of us. We do it all the time, especially on social media. We make posts, get likes, and want others to notice us.

That need for validation has grown because of that little thumbs-up. I think we’ve always wanted it, but now we see it instantly.

I can admit—when social media first came out, I wanted those likes too. But the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized it doesn’t really matter. Now, if I post, I don’t worry about who sees it or how many likes it gets.

God is the only One whose validation we truly need. When we follow Him wholeheartedly, we begin to understand that—and it changes what we do and how we do it, because suddenly, those things just don’t seem as important anymore.

If you’re feeling tired and weary—in your work, your home, your church, or your community—remember that God is the One who sees all.

Even if you wonder whether you’re making a difference, you are.

We don’t always see the fruits of our labor, and that’s okay. Just hold to the fact that God works everything together. What you’re doing now will make a difference—it just might not happen in the timing we expect.

Everything we do is for the Lord. Even if we never get recognition by worldly standards, God is the One we want to be seen by.

Psalm 139:1–4 (NLT) “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”

Maybe today you needed to hear this—you are seen, you are known, and you are loved. Psalm 139 paints that picture so beautifully.

God’s attention to you is personal and full of grace. You don’t have to earn His notice or prove your value. He already delights in who you are.

When you feel unseen, remember—God not only sees you, He understands you completely.
