Seek the Lord in Faith Through All Seasons and Reap the Harvest That is Coming

I sought the Lord for Scripture for the week, and He gave me three. At first, I was trying to figure out how they even connected. So, I read each one along with the commentary in my study Bible… and they do, in fact, go together.

They bring hope, they teach patience, and they show that seeking the Lord in all things through faith is what leads us to the reward — the Kingdom of Heaven.

Those scriptures are:

Matthew 7:8 – For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Communicating with God takes faith and follow-through. We often reach a point in our prayers where we haven’t heard from God or seen an answer, and we want to give up. But we cannot give up on seeking the Lord.

I think about Noah in this way. What if, after many days, he had sent out another bird and thought, “this is pointless — the water will never recede?” He would have missed the fullness of what God was doing in renewing the land. But he didn’t give up. He stayed faithful to what the Lord had told him.

Don’t give up — keep sending those prayers up. Keep seeking.

The next scripture is Jeremiah 14:5 – Even the doe in the field deserts her newborn fawn because there is no grass.

This one seemed a bit odd and out of place at first, until I read it in context. It refers to Judah facing a drought. The commentary explained that this drought was a form of discipline because the people believed that, as God’s chosen, everything would always be fine no matter how they lived. They only turned to God in difficult times, not continually. They had lost their way… again.

The way I see this Scripture connecting is that we all face droughts and difficult seasons. But how we respond in those seasons reveals our character. In nature, the doe abandons her fawn out of survival instinct. But as Christ followers, we are called to take care of ourselves and care for others while also depending fully on God.

There must be a continual seeking of the Lord so that we don’t walk away when life becomes difficult. There is strength in holding onto hope and faith, even when it feels like nothing is left.

Yes, there may be times when we need to step away from something — but we must first seek God sincerely and follow His will before making those decisions.

Seek the Lord, and don’t assume that just because you are already a believer, everything will automatically be easy.

The last scripture is James 5:7 – Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.

Waiting for a harvest is not a rushed process. Farmers don’t step away during the off-season and hope for the best. They work diligently year-round to prepare for what is to come.

We are called to do the same — to work faithfully as the Lord leads us, holding onto hope and faith as we wait for Christ’s return.

Live by faith. Look forward to what is ahead. Continue building God’s Kingdom, no matter the season, because the harvest is coming.

These three Scriptures come together to show us that when we seek the Lord — even in seasons of drought — and continue walking in faith, we will see the goodness of God’s Kingdom, and the harvest will come.

Seek the Lord. Don’t assume that following Him means everything will fall into place easily. Stay diligent. Stay in constant communication with Him so you can remain on the path He has set before you. This is how we step into the promises and rewards He has for us.

Discern and seek. Don’t let drought or discouragement guide you. When our focus is on our circumstances instead of the Lord, our emotions and actions will follow those feelings. But when we seek God and align ourselves with His will, we find peace — no matter the season — because we trust that He is in control.

Ask. Seek. Knock. Let God be your guide, and you will experience the harvest and the reward that is coming.
