Romans 12:2

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

The book of Romans is so powerful, and much of it applies to how we are to walk with Christ. Paul holds nothing back when preaching the Gospel to anyone and everyone, and I love that about this part of the Bible. None of the apostles held back — they were brave, bold, and honest, and they knew they needed to be.

I think about my journey as a Christ follower and how, over the years, because of my desire to please God, I’ve come to understand the importance of being brave, bold, and honest. With that comes standing against the things this world offers.

The world throws a lot at us, and I don’t know about you, but I can sometimes catch myself just going with the flow and not really thinking things through.

The last devo blog I wrote was on temptation, and how closely it’s tied to the ways of this world. But what I think is pretty amazing is what happens when we turn our lives over to Christ.

The Scripture above tells us to let God transform us into a new person by changing the way we think.

It’s so powerful.

Change begins with a choice — following Christ.

From there, He is the One who begins to make changes in us.

Sure, it sounds easy, because it can seem like all we have to do is make one decision and then suddenly we are someone new. But that’s just the beginning. What comes next takes effort and consistency. It will challenge our entire being. That’s because for so long, we followed the behaviors and customs of the world. Our flesh will always cry out for those things.

But God equips us with His Word, His strength, and His protection.

When you think about your life, have you ever considered where you would be if you had continued down a certain path? I have — and when I think about it, that path would have been so destructive.

I am so amazed by the pursuit of the Lord.

We have a listener board here at the station, and when we look at it, we can see how many people are blessed by the radio, which is incredible. But even more than that, we can see how many lives the Lord has changed. So many in this world have been transformed by God’s love, and yet there are still so many who don’t even know Him.

Our mission as Christ followers is to go into the world and make disciples. This goes against everything the world stands for — and it always has. Paul and the other disciples faced backlash, prison, and even death, all for the sake of the Lord. But that is the calling.

We are to stand against what the world says is “right,” follow the Lord, and allow Him to transform us from the inside out.

When we are faithfully following the Lord, things begin to change and shift. Things happen that we don’t always understand, but one thing we do know is that no matter what, all the glory goes to God.

God’s will for your life is that you live for Him and share the Gospel with others — and that is what is good, pleasing, and perfect.
