Remember, Repent, Repeat

Today we’re talking about Remember, Repent, and Repeat.

Have you ever noticed how life has a rhythm — routines that we do without even thinking? Wake up, get coffee, head to work, handle the day. But what about our spiritual rhythm?

Romans 8:10 (NLT)“And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.”

Let’s look at the simple rhythm for our walk with God: Remember, Repent, and Repeat.

Remember — Remember who God is, and what He’s done for you.

Repent — Be honest about where you’ve fallen short and turn back toward Him.

Repeat — Keep coming back to Him, day after day, moment by moment.

This is about living in step with the Spirit — letting His life flow through us even

when ours feels weak. This rhythm grounds us, grows us, and draws us closer to the One who gives us real life.

It’s a really great reminder as we go through the same motions day in and day out that as we remember, repent, and repeat, we stay connected with God and allow Him to join us and guide us as we follow His leading.

Many know and believe in God, and so when it comes to remembering Him — like when we remember those we know or knew — we remember who they are or were, and we also remember what they have done for us.

This is what it means when I say remember who God is.

Know Him and what He has done for you and through you, but also that He is ALWAYS with you.

This is a great way for us to stay on the path that He has laid out for us. When we look back on past struggles, we remember how God was with us and what blessings He has given us. We also know that we aren’t alone in our hills and valleys — He is ALWAYS with us.

We pretty much know what repent means — it’s being honest with who we are, where we are, and what mistakes we have made.

Oftentimes at church, when we hear the prayer of forgiveness and repentance, have you ever wondered, “Is this something I should also repeat?”

I know I have. I know I make mistakes and sin every day, so should I continually say a sinner’s prayer?

Here’s my opinion: God forgives. He wipes the slate clean, and repeating the sinner’s prayer isn’t a bad thing, but it doesn’t change what God has already done for us since we first prayed it.

So, to repent now just means to be aware of our mistakes and ask God to forgive us and correct us so we can learn and grow from them.

It’s like apologizing to someone when you break something you borrowed. You apologize, fix the mistake, and strive not to let it happen again.

It’s about spiritual rhythm. Our scripture for today is Romans 8:10 (NLT) “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.”

Let’s remember who God is, repent for our mistakes, and repeat the same joy and passion we had when we were first saved by Christ.

Christ lives in us, so we need to live lives guided by Him and His wisdom.

In Romans 8:10, Paul reminds us that Christ lives in us, and because of Him, we’re made right with God. That truth changes everything about how we live.

I have been reading The Spirit-Formed Life for a while now, just taking my time with it to soak up and remember all I can. This will be a book I reread for sure as God continues to mold me. In this book, there was a line that really stuck out to me recently, and it says this:

“But Child, I wish you would simply spend more time with ME — to know MY heart and let ME deal with yours, to give you instructions in the personal matters of your private life as you learn to wait on ME.”

This right here is how God’s Word and truth need to settle on us. He wants us to know who HE is, and in learning that, we are changed and grow in knowing the truth of who He is, His character, and how we can be made right with Him. In that, our daily choices and moments change because we live remembering that Christ lives in us and is with us.

To repeat how we were when we were first saved may seem a bit odd to those of us who have been walking with Christ for a while now. But really, this is just about passion.

When we come back to Him day in and day out, we don’t just push the repeat button and stay stuck in our daily habits, going through the motions.

To repeat how we were when we were first saved is more about walking fearlessly and boldly, living out loud what we believe. We can become complacent and lose that a little bit. So, remember what you were like when you were first saved and the overflowing joy that filled you. Let that shine bright and spill over for others to see.

It’s about living in step with the Spirit — letting His life flow through us even when ours feels weak. This rhythm grounds us, grows us, and draws us closer to the One who gives us real life.

Our scripture is Romans 8:10 (NLT)“And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.”

Do you know the Sunday school song, “Jesus Loves Me”?

It simply says:

Jesus loves me, this I know

For the Bible tells me so;

Little ones to Him belong;

They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me…The Bible tells me so.

When we are kids, we repeat this over and over, and it is a great reminder that Jesus loves us, He is with us, and we know this because the Bible tells us so.

But life… it happens, and we no longer find ourselves repeating this song anymore.

I think we should get back to repeating this. Let’s remember that Jesus does love us, and what the Bible says is true. God is our strength, and we belong to Him.

Let’s put this on repeat in our minds today and see what happens.

Live with passion for God, and let’s hold to what Romans 8:10 reminds us: even though sin brings death, the Spirit gives life because of Christ in us. That means we don’t have to stay stuck in our mistakes, failures, or yesterday’s regrets. Every day is a fresh opportunity to remember who He is, repent where we need to, and repeat the process — leaning into His grace again and again.

It sounds simple, but it’s powerful.

When we remember the cross, it keeps our perspective right. When we repent, it clears away the things that distance us from God. And when we repeat, it reminds us this isn’t just a one-time thing — it’s a lifestyle of staying close to Jesus.

So today, don’t be discouraged if you stumble. Just start again. Remember, repent, repeat — and walk in the life that Jesus has already given you.

God’s rhythm for our lives is simple: Remember His goodness, repent when we stumble, and repeat the process of grace daily.
