Our God is an awesome God…. I’m sure some of y’all know that 90’s song. It’s truth and it helps us to fully praise who our God is. He reigns; He is wise and full of power and love. He is just awesome… as in cool and also in His ways.
Today we are going to jump in and just talk about our God and discuss some truths about who He is, who we are in Him, and praise Him along the way.
Our scripture for today is Psalm 36:5-9, Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
Who is our God… Well first, He is our Creator and Father. He is also the one who sent His only Son to save us because of His love for us as our Father. He created you in His image, and because of that we can be confident that He has chosen us.
The Bible is woven with the deep character of God, and when we read it, we learn about who He is. This summer, when praying and asking God where I should go next in the walk with Him, I felt very deeply that I should read more about who God is. That is what I have done. I started in some of the New Testament, and now God has taken me to the Old Testament. He wants me to understand every part of who He is, and He wants the same for you.
Learn who our God is by diving into the Word, by having open and honest conversations with Him, and just sitting with Him, taking in every part of His being.
Who is our God… He is one that we can turn to at all times.
Many times, we have wondered what we do next, where do we go, and I really just saying a lot of I don’t know.
But God does know. He is all-knowing. He knows every part of everything and everyone because He is our Creator.
Just the other day I was sitting at home reading a book, and I looked out the window, and there were like 75 blackbirds in our front yard. This is how we know fall is really near, but as I sat there watching them eat, I was reminded that not even the birds worry about where their food comes from because God knows them and knows their exact need and provides it for them.
Listen, it is said, and we have a hard time grasping it, but friend, if God cares for the birds as He does, He cares for you more, and because of that we can turn to Him at all times.
Who is our God… Our God is unfailing, never-ending, faithful in all things, and is our quenching water and the light in the darkness.
God is who we should look to in every situation. God is who we can trust in every situation. We can trust in God because what He says is true, and what He says He will do, He will do.
In His all-encompassing love, we can live and know that God protects, provides, and that His promises are true.
Learn about who God is and how to live by standing firm in who He is.
When you think of God, what do you think?
Do you think about how He is aware of everything and knows all people and hearts? Do you think about how He is a place of refuge? How He is just, and how He is love?
God is a God that we should be reverent to, obedient to, and trust without question.

Who we are in God… I have talked about how we are enough with Christ and in Christ. That stands the same for who we are in God.
As they are Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, they all see us the same, and that is enough, free, complete, His, saved, a new creation through salvation, wonderfully made, a warrior, known, and chosen.
It is important for us to know who we are in God because when we come to realize that and stop questioning this, we are better able to live a life more focused on what we can do for Him and less about trying to figure out who we are through things and people of this world.
Hold tight to who you are in God… You are His.
Who we are in God… We have quite a few songs here at KJIC that we play that remind us of who we are in God. Things like music that points us back to God, reading the Bible and understanding that we are His and who He is makes us want to sing praises to our Father.
This past weekend I was in prayer, and I ended that and went about my morning, and then suddenly, about 30 minutes later, I became so overwhelmed with who God is and what He has done for me and my family. It is in those moments that I remember how much God hears me, how much He loves me, and who He is.
Let’s always be willing to praise the Lord.
God is faithful, loving, just, compassionate, and so many other adjectives. God is unfailing in all things, and because of that He is literally good all the time.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! Praising God in all things and really knowing who He is, is the best way to grow in relationship with Him. Let’s praise Him.
Praising God… Praising God for who He is and all He does. This is important.
In every relationship, the connection goes both ways. We can hear and accept who God says we are, we can learn who He is, but if we do not always turn and praise Him in all things, then we kind of have a one-sided relationship.
We don’t like when that happens… in fact, we can feel like that relationship is a distant one. So, as we grow in relationship with God, let’s not just take everything; let’s learn to give God what is due to Him. That is all our praise.
Praising God… We all sing songs and worship the Lord in church, but do you carry that same type of heart posture and worship with you throughout your week?
Praising our God is something we should do as often as possible. We so often hear about how we should praise God even in our struggles, and that is true because with God everything works for our good and His glory.
God, being an all-knowing God, knows our struggles, pains, and desperation, and all He wants is for us to come fully and rely on Him.
So, stand during your hardest times and praise the Lord. This brings peace and comfort to our souls because we are close to God when we come to Him and let Him scoop us up and carry us through.
Praise God in the storms.
For today we talked about our God… Who He is, who we are in Him, and then giving Him praise at all times.
As you go into your day remember who God is – He is loving and faithful. Remember who you are in Him – chosen and fully known. And absolutely remember to praise Him every chance you get.
We have a Father and Creator that loves us beyond measure. He is a good God and always will be. Know Him, know who you are in Him, and give Him praise in all things.
