Memory

ree

Today we’re reflecting on something powerful: memory.

Mine isn’t too powerful, but even so, God has given us the ability to remember — not just facts, but moments, experiences, and blessings that shaped us.

Psalm 103:2 (NLT) says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.”

Today is a day to remember God’s goodness, His kindness, and the many ways He has carried us. Let’s rise, let’s shine, and let’s step into this morning with grateful hearts.

Let’s jump into this with joy and gladness as we walk down memory lane together.

It’s funny how memories pop up when we least expect them.

Yesterday I remembered a time when I was so proud of myself for making it out the door on time with everything in hand… only to discover as I was driving that I forgot my coffee on the counter. I had everything else — purse, keys to the office, and my kids, of course, as I was taking them to school — but no coffee.

Moments like that make me laugh, but they also remind me how much life we’ve lived. Every simple memory is a snapshot of God’s grace — teaching us, growing us, carrying us. The little moments matter more than we think.

One of the most repeated commands in Scripture is to remember.

Remember what God has done.

Remember His promises.

Remember His faithfulness.

Deuteronomy 7:18 (NLT) says, “Do not be afraid… remember well what the Lord your God did.”

Looking back helps us find courage for what’s ahead. Even in seasons when we didn’t know how things would work out, God was already working all things together. The memories of His faithfulness become strength for today.

Some memories feel like little treasures tucked away in the heart — moments of peace, answered prayers, unexpected blessings.

Isaiah 46:9 (NLT) says, “Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God!”

When life becomes noisy or uncertain, remembering the ways God has already shown up brings quiet strength. He was faithful then. He is faithful now. And He will be faithful tomorrow.

Isn’t it amazing how God threads our lives together with moments that teach us, shape us, and remind us we are never alone?

I once heard someone say, that "memories are God’s way of letting us hold onto joy a little longer."

Sitting on my back porch on a warm evening, feeling the breeze, and knowing without a word that God was nearby is a memory I will always have. I love it.

That’s not a big event, not a special occasion… just peace.

It’s often the quiet memories that stay with us the longest — the ones where God whispered to our hearts, “I’m here.”

Today is a beautiful day to recall His blessings with gratitude.

Memory lets us see God’s faithfulness across all the seasons of our lives — the easy ones, the challenging ones, and the ones that stretched us.

Psalm 77:11 (NLT) says, “But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.”

When we remember God’s goodness, confidence rises. Faith grows. Peace settles in. If He has been faithful in the past, He will be faithful today.

It is a great thing to remember that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Our communities hold so many memories of kindness — moments when someone made life a little easier, a little brighter. God often works through those simple acts that stay with us long after they happen.

I know that if I didn’t have a community that supported me, there would have been moments where things would have been harder than they were. I remember so many times like that.

We serve a God who is always writing new memories of grace into our lives. Today may become one of those memories you look back on and smile.

Be thankful for the community God has given you.

Whether your memories make you laugh, reflect, or thank God quietly, each one is part of the beautiful story He’s telling in your life.

God wants us to remember that He radically loves us, and with memories of His faithfulness we can do just that.

Let’s take a moment and pray together.

Lord, thank You for the memories that remind us of Your goodness. Thank You for Your presence in every season of our lives — the joyful ones, the challenging ones, and the ones that changed us. Help us remember Your faithfulness today. Fill our hearts with gratitude for all You’ve done and all You will do. Amen.

We always need to be thankful for where we came from and where we will be going.

As we move toward the end of our morning together, hold onto this promise from Psalm 23:6 (NLT): “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.”

The memories you carry are reminders of a God who has never left your side. And today, He’s still writing new stories of grace, love, and faithfulness into your life. The best memories are still ahead.

God’s got a lot of goodness ahead for you.

May you be filled with peace, joy, and beautiful reminders of God’s goodness. Hold onto the memories that lift your spirit and let them guide you into a hopeful day.
