Many Hands Make Light (and FUN) Work: A Workday at KJIC

Updated: Jun 6

This past Saturday, the KJIC property was buzzing with the sound of chainsaws, laughter, and hard-working hands. We had a much-needed workday, and thanks to the help of our incredible staff, staff families and volunteers, it was not only productive—it was a blast! At KJIC, we are committed to being faithful stewards of every donation we receive, which often means rolling up our sleeves and doing things ourselves. But when time and capacity are limited, that’s when the body of Christ shows up and reminds us what community really looks like.

Saturday's community included helpers from The Well (a young adult group at The Harbor in Friendswood) and volunteers from Environmental Construction Services, who brought out a skid steer with a claw—an absolute game changer!

In just 3.5 hours, together we were able to:

  • Remove many unwanted trees, including a large one near the entrance (making way for improved signage),

  • Prune back branches that blocked delivery truck access,

  • Clear out underbrush and remove dead trees damaged by Hurricane Beryl,

  • Clean up the crepe myrtles along the front of the property,

  • And eliminate dead branches over our parking area, improving safety and opening up the view of the building.

We’re so grateful for the hands that helped and the hearts behind them. These kinds of efforts may not always be visible on-air, but they make a lasting impact on our ministry and how we serve you.

THANK YOU to Jason, Ethan, Shireen, Mason, Austin, and The Cole and Vaughn Families for a job well done!!

And a huge THANK YOU to each listener and supporter of KJIC and a special thanks to Chad Ellis, with Milo's Tea Company for providing tea and lemonade for our hard working crew.

We couldn’t do any of this without your generosity, your prayers, and your heart for this ministry. You’re a vital part of the impact we’re making—on the air and in the community.
