Leaning on God is not something that comes naturally in this world we live in.
In fact, I wanted to control things, because I didn’t like feeling out of control…who does it debilitating. But eventually that need for control controls you. We then don’t know how to release and lean into God. We need to learn this and allow God to catch us when we fall.
Control is just one thing we need to let go in order to lean on God. We want or expect things to go certain ways and things don’t always go the way we think they should. Our plans fall through, unforeseen things happen, but these things is where learning to leaning on God is important.
We shouldn’t get so wrapped up in the negative things or the unexpected things that are going on that we forget to lean on God who loves us more that we can imagine.
What does it mean to lean on God? It means that we need to keep scripture in our hearts and pray to Him.
Psalm 119: 11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart, that might not sin against you.
Knowing the scripture gives us a place to go when things arise other wise where do we end up but in a place of discourse.
We can become so focused and lost in what is happening in our world that we forget that God is there. God wants us to cast our care of Him, he wants us to do this every minute of every day.
1 Peter 5:6-9 reads, So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Trust in the Lord, lean into Him. He is walking with you, carrying your burdens, and guiding you.
If you feel alone know that you are not. We may not be able to physically see God, but I know He is always there. His arms are outstretched and His hands are open ready for us to reach out to Him.
It says in the Bible that He will never leave us, and I fully believe that. Especially in times of struggle, I must believe this. If I don’t believe that God is with me and that I can lean into Him, then I would feel out of control. That's not what I want or need.
There have been a few times in my life that if I didn’t feel in control then I felt out of control but in my spiritual growth and walk with the Lord I have come to learn that it is in my uncontrol that I lean more into Him and give Him control.
Ephesians 3: 12 says, Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.
I needed to learn that I could place my confidence in the Lord and that He would take care of me and things around me. His ways are better than mine. It took a long time for me to fully understand that I could 100% trust in the Lord and to give Him control of my life.
This passage below is a good reminder of leaning on God and allowing His Spirit to strengthen us and guide us. We can trust in Him and who He is.
Ephesians 3: 14-21 is Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth
When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
