Laughter and Joy

Let’s talk about laughter today and joy. One way we can be filled with laughter and joy is when we are in good company having good conversations and laughing all the way through.

Charles Dickens - “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.”

Found this quote and thought it was a perfect way to explain the importance of laugher in our lives.

"There are spiritual, emotional, and physical benefits of joy and laughter. Science has proven why the Bible tells us to laugh—it’s good for our health! Laughter reduces stress, fights against depression and sorrow, fosters a positive outlook on life, and puts you in an all-around good mood. Laughter also lowers blood pressure, and impacts the cells in your body, preventing disease and setting you up to live long and strong."

Ecclesiastes 8:15: “So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.”

If it is recommended then lets do it.

I love meeting up with friends and talking about serious stuff but also just getting to laugh and have fun too. I think there is connection in humor because we are being real and open in those times. There is comfort and understanding.

When there is comfort, we are able to connect with others on a broader level and can find that we are open to share a lot more than if we were just always talking and being serious. When we can help refuel lost joy and or encourage someone to find the joy in the dark place.

Psalm 30:11: “You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.”

I’m sure we all have examples of times when our spirit felt broken and the sadness, depression or pain seemed so heavy that we didn’t think we would feel joy again.

I know there are just days that I feel that way. I felt a little of that yesterday. I allowed the work and the things of the day to overshadow the joy of the Lord a little bit. But once I looked back on the day and what the Lord helped me accomplish or what He has put in front of me to help me see the joy of life all that went away.

Proverbs 17:22: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”

When we are feeling life, and the sorrow of life is too much we can pray and ask God to help us find the joy again and He will guide you right to it. He will show us joy in the everyday things and fill us with His joy, all we have to do is seek and ask Him to help us to see it and feel it.
