Laughter

Today, we’re taking things easy talking about the lighter side of life.

Laughter!

Have you ever had one of those days where everything is going wrong, and you just laugh because crying would take too much energy? Yeah, me too.

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Basically, the Bible is telling us what we already know: laughter is the best medicine! And who doesn’t need a little extra “medicine” in their life, am I right?

Speaking of laughter, did you hear the one about the guy who went to the doctor and said, “Doc, I broke my arm in two places.” And the doctor said, “Well, stop going to those places!” I know I know a little cheesy. But hey, cheese makes everything better, including jokes.

The truth is, God designed us to enjoy life and find joy in the everyday moments. So, if you’re going through something tough today, remember to take a deep breath and find something to smile about. It doesn’t have to be complicated—maybe it’s fact that you managed to get out the door with your shoes on the right feet this morning or even just matching shoes…I’ve walked out with different shoes because it was dark in the room.

Either way, God’s got you covered, and He’s sprinkled plenty of moments to make you laugh along the way.

Have you had those moments where you you’ve been talking to yourself and then realize you have answered yourself multiple times…I have done this so many times and then said who am I even talking to … I’ve also been caught talking to myself so many times. It’s just funny.

You know, I think God gave us silly moments on purpose. There’s something beautiful about letting loose and not taking ourselves too seriously. Take, for example, the classic moment where you walk into a room and immediately forget why you’re there. Seriously the other day I walked into a room knowing what I needed, I looked around and then forgot for a second why I was there…I’m convinced that’s God’s way of saying, “Relax, it’s not that serious!”

In Ecclesiastes 3:4, it says, “A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.” Sometimes, we just need to take a break from the heavy stuff and enjoy the silly side of life. Whether that’s having a dance party in your living room, telling a ridiculous joke, or laughing at that embarrassing memory that still makes you cringe—yes, we’ve all got one of those!

Let's embrace the ridiculous silly moments. They’re good for your soul, and trust me, you look way cooler dancing in your kitchen than you think.

It is importance of not taking ourselves too seriously. And let’s be honest, sometimes the funniest moments are when we just laugh at ourselves.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever sent a text with so many typos and then immediately wish you could fix it, so you try but them autocorrect kicks in and then you just let it go because it seems to be hopeless. Yeah, I see those hands. Or how about when you’ve confidently pulled a door even though it says PUSH really big? Trust me, you’re not alone!

Here’s the thing: life is full of little moments where we trip over ourselves—literally and figuratively. But instead of getting frustrated or embarrassed, we can choose to laugh it off. It’s all part of the human experience! Even the Bible has moments of humor. Remember when God made Balaam’s donkey talk in Numbers 22? Imagine being Balaam in that moment. I mean, I’d probably question my sanity if my donkey started giving me life advice!

The point is, God doesn’t expect us to be perfect. He knows we’re going to have awkward moments, and He’s right there with us, sometimes laughing along. And really, wouldn’t you rather laugh with God than worry about trying to be flawless?

So, let’s lighten up a little! Laugh at yourself today—trust me, it’s good for the soul.

Remember, life doesn’t have to be serious all the time—God created us to enjoy laughter and silliness. So don’t be afraid to embrace the funny moments, laugh at yourself, and remember that joy is a gift from God!
