You know, we live in a world full of opinions. Everyone has something to say, whether it’s on social media, at work, or even in our own homes.
But here’s the real question: when you’re looking for truth, where do you go?
2 Timothy 3:16–17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
That means when life feels confusing, when you need guidance, or even when you just need encouragement—the answer is clear: It’s in the Bible.
Today, we’re diving into what that means for our everyday lives and how God’s Word continues to speak to us, no matter what season we’re in.
You know, in a world full of opinions, advice, and Google searches, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with information.
God’s Word isn’t just a history book, it’s alive and active, speaking to every season of life we walk through. Whether it’s comfort, direction, correction, or hope, we don’t have to wonder if God left us hanging—He’s already spoken, and His Word is steady and sure.
Let’s hold to the fact that we can find the truth and guidance in God’s Word.
There are so many different avenues for us to “self-help” ourselves. We even turn to others when we are in need.
It seems like the last place we look is the Bible. We can pray and ask God for guidance, but we may never open up His Word and seek to be filled with His truth about the situation we are in.
We are independent people who need to learn to depend on our dependable God.
When we lose sight that He is the first one we should turn to, and that His Word is what we should read instead of those other avenues, we forget that He already knows us and what we need, and that He can and will provide for us when we seek Him and ask Him.
We know that God’s Word is something for us to lean into and trust in, but as we walk through life, we find it hard to hold onto that truth. Life can just feel heavy, and we get so caught up in it that we don’t think about what the Bible might say about our situation.
This is why it is important for us to read the Bible, hold the truths that it has close to our hearts, and also pray and ask God to help us and remind us of His truth.
Community is another way that we can be reminded of God’s truth. When we ask others to walk with us through difficult times, they can be a vessel of God for us.
How many have Googled their symptoms when they aren’t feeling well or when you notice something isn’t right? I mean, just this morning I looked up something… I do this way too often probably, but I’m curious. Of course, when I feel it is important, I do take care of it.
But my point is that if we are willing to go to Google instead of a professional, then what does that mean when we are needing help from the Lord? Who or what do you turn to instead of God?
This kind of means that we are deciding to put what we want for ourselves before what God has for us.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
Turn to God’s Word and God Himself.
I’ve got a great quote by Jack Hayford, the writer of The Spirit Formed Life, and it says:
“Persistence on a daily pathway—progressing through the Bible though beset by distraction and irregularity of schedule—is not only essential; but it also can be joyous! God’s Word is the ever-available supernatural source for faith, strength, wisdom, growth and freedom in Christ. There is no substitute for its power to nurture, counsel and sustain.”
This is just more confirmation that all we need is found in God and in His Word.
The Bible is a great gift for us. When we come across people and hear their stories of how God worked in and through them, it inspires us. The Bible is just the same, but it’s different because of how it was uniquely written.
It was written by many different people with many different walks of life, but with one thing in common: they were divinely chosen by God to write His Words so that we can all now know who He is and how He wants each and every one of us to come to Him and experience His love.
So, if you are curious about how you can learn from God about the situation you are in, read the Bible… it’s in there.
We have heard that the answers we need are in the Bible. But what if you don’t know where to look or even where to begin?
I think it is important to grow in the knowledge of who God is. When we do that, we are better able to see how His Word applies to us today. I would simply start in the Gospels and learn who Jesus is. This is because Jesus teaches us a lot about God the Father. If you want to know the history of things, go to the Old Testament—this is where we see that everything in the New Testament connects to the Old.
The Bible may seem daunting, but it is so full of who God is and how He wants to lead and guide us.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
It can be hard to take correction and constructive criticism. But this scripture clearly tells us that that is what the Bible does.
When we read the Bible, things can be pointed out to us. So even as you read a story that you have read many times before, seek the Lord in it and ask Him what He has for you in that passage. It is in the reading that we are always seeking, and it is in the seeking that we are growing, and it is in the growing where we come closer to God.
Today is all about a reminder that all we need to know about God—who He is, how He loves, how He gives mercy, and how He guides and leads us—it’s in the Bible.
Read the Bible and really ask the Lord to open your eyes to something new.
If you don’t know where to read in the Bible, then just pick something and let God guide you through it.
God provides so much, and as we read His Word we are provided with comfort and understanding.
As we wrap up today, I want you to remember this: the Bible isn’t just a history book, it’s a living, breathing guide for your life. God gave us His Word so we wouldn’t have to wander aimlessly or guess at what’s true.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 reminds us that Scripture equips us for every good work.
Whatever you’re walking into today—whether it’s work, school, or a hard conversation—you don’t go empty-handed.
You carry with you the truth, the promises, and the wisdom of God’s Word.
So, the next time you’re searching for direction or comfort, don’t forget the simple truth: It’s in the Bible.
