Knowing what is for you, when it is for you and who is for you are important questions to ask.
Knowing WHAT is for you....
Do you ever wonder what in this life is for you and what is not for you?
Let's say you have a new opportunity come up and you know your abilities and you know you can absolutely do that. But does that mean it is for you to do?
You have to pray and determine if that is what God has for you.
On the other side of that, what if you know what your choice is and then you start second guessing that decision. We are not to worry when we know God is in that choice.
Psalm 25:4-5 - Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
When I feel uncertain about what is for me and a decision that I need to make, or I have made I turn to the one who knows my path – God. God will always show us what is right for us. God will direct our path. Seek God in every decision you have.
Psalms 119:105 – Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Knowing WHEN it is time....
When we know what is for us – then next question would be…when is it time to make that next step?
I was at another job, and I had a feeling my time at that job was coming to an end, but I wasn’t sure when. God was stirring my heart for change, so I prayed for a month to get clarity…I wanted to know when God wanted me to make the move and not to move when I thought it was right, because it could have been the wrong time. God’s timing is always on time.
Knowing the when to talk to me boss was anxiety ridden because I knew I was to leave my old job but waiting made me feel more anxious.
The time came and it was on a day that I didn’t expect… funny considering I knew it was coming any day… so I asked God that day to give me the right time to talk to my boss – let me tell you – God prompted me, and it happened almost as if I wasn’t the one moving but that God was doing it for me.
Isaiah 43:19 – For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
In the waiting we know what is to come and sometimes though we think the time is right…it is not- Go to God for then…when…patience is needed to be able to wait and move when God says because He knows the timing of all – even our when – so go to Him.
Knowing WHO is for you....
Not everyone is for you, or in your corner – that can be a hard lesson to learn.
Growing up we want to be in that in crowd…it looks fun to have that many people, but it just may not be for us.
I have had 3 times in my life where I saw someone and thought I want to be their friend – 2 of those people are now my best friends and the 3rd is my husband…. I fully believe that notion of wanting to be a part of their lives was from God, that He was guiding me to people who would be for me.
There have also been times when I thought someone who for me and I was wrong...it was hard to walk away from that friendship but it was necessary.
Proverbs 27:17 – As Iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
This is a good way to know who is for you. If you have a friend who is honest and wants to help you in your walk, then that is a good friend. Some don’t want to be involved in your messiness but only want to be there when things are good. So are ok with being in your messy but don't want to be in your good. That is something to think about.
Friendships come in different varieties – that’s fine. They come in different seasons as well – that’s fine too. Knowing that God is the center of all your relationships is important.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 – If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
We all need others to help pick us up, we can try to walk through life alone but that's not what God intended. He intended for us to find those for us.
Surround yourself with those who are honest, kind, encouraging, and prayerful. A praying friend is a blessing and a good friend.
Knowing what is for you, when it is for you, and who is for you…. of course these are not easy questions to navigate but that are questions we should ask. No we won't get it right all the time but one thing I do know is.....God is the answer to it all.
He knows what we need, when we need it, and He will even provide those who are to be in our lives. Turn to God when you are seeking answers and He will guide you along the right path.
