Let’s talk about healthy living today—not just the ‘eat-your-greens’ kind, but the whole package: body, mind, and spirit. It’s about feeling good and honoring God with how we take care of ourselves. We’ll dive into what that looks like, have some laughs, and maybe pick up a few tips along the way. Let’s get into it!
Our scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) — "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Healthy living can feel overwhelming, right? But it’s really about small choices that add up.
Let’s be honest—we all think ‘healthy living’ means running marathons and eating kale. Well, it’s not. We need to realize that just walking the dog counts, and choosing water over soda is a win. It’s the little things that add up.
Like, you know that moment when you’re craving chips but grab carrots instead? Okay, maybe that never happens. But even these kinds of simple swaps—like taking the stairs or parking a little farther from the store—make a difference. What’s your go-to healthy habit?
I’ve recently started working out again and being more aware of what I eat because I want to make wise choices and build good habits.
What’s one thing you’ve done lately to take care of yourself?
We all need encouragement to keep going when making changes. Let’s inspire each other with the little victories!
Healthy living isn’t about being perfect—it’s about doing your best. Oftentimes, we set goals, and if we mess up once, we somehow go off the rails and decide that we’ve failed, so we’ll try again later… if later ever comes.
Here’s the deal: if you made one good choice today, that’s worth celebrating. Every step counts!
Healthy living is more than just what you eat—it’s about taking care of your mind and soul too. Let’s dive a little deeper.
I used to think rest was lazy. Life is busy, and when we rest, we feel like we just aren’t doing enough. We feel guilty for resting. But it turns out that rest is essential. One day, I took a break, sat outside, and just breathed. That tiny moment of peace did wonders for my mood. Rest is part of healthy living too.
Have you ever tried a new workout and immediately regretted it? I once thought, "Oh, I’ll do this yoga class." I did it, and honestly, I was the least qualified person in that class. I had no faith in what I was about to do. Then, once the class started and I had to hold myself in a bear crawl position for what felt like forever, I realized that I had overestimated my ability. That made the whole class a struggle.
Though I wasn’t really capable of doing this class, I did make it through the entire hour—which felt like four hours, mind you—and when I was done, I felt great. I felt accomplished, and my faith was a little restored because I made it through. Sometimes, it’s not about how gracefully we make it through; it’s about finding confidence that we will make it through because of our faith and knowing that God will help us.
Have you seen those memes where it says, “If you watched Saturday morning cartoons or you know who the Jetsons are, then you should start stretching every morning”? First, I feel called out. And secondly, I have started stretching… and it has helped me so much.
Who knew touching your toes could be so powerful?
What’s a small change that made a big difference for you?
We make small changes—like reading the verse of the day from the KJIC Daily Bread and carrying it with us, thinking on it all day. We may not feel the difference at first, but over time, we will notice the work that the Word of the Lord is doing in our lives.
What’s a small change that made a big difference for you?
If today feels overwhelming, just pick one thing. Drink a glass of water. Take a deep breath. Healthy living starts with small steps.
Healthy living isn’t a sprint—it’s a journey. Whether you’re crushing your goals or just trying to survive the day, you’re doing great.
And let’s be real—some days, healthy living means choosing fruit instead of donuts. Other days, it means not eating the whole box of donuts. Balance, right?
Are you with me on this? Some days, we are on point, but other days, we’re looking for our phones while talking on them…
Life comes in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes I’m doing my best, but my square peg just won’t fit into that circle. Healthy living means trying our best to make things work, even when we struggle.
Have you ever tried to balance on one foot while putting on your socks? Turns out, that counts as exercise. Who needs a gym when you’ve got daily life?
How about going to buy clothes and trying them on before purchasing them? That’s a roller coaster. I mean, why do we get so hot when trying on clothes? I leave thinking, "Okay, that was a good workout—now I don’t need to go to the gym." Other times, I leave thinking, "I need to stop eating altogether."
Trying to be healthy is a mental battle between feeling great and feeling awful. But we have to keep the goal we set in mind and continue on, no matter what.
The same happens in our spiritual walk. We always do our best to take the time to readjust in order to keep moving forward. We need to be mindful of that when we are trying to be healthy. Let the Lord lead in all things.
If you’re trying to make changes, be kind to yourself. Progress isn’t linear. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a win.
Remember our scripture—1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT): "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Healthy living is about honoring Him with our bodies and choices. You’re doing better than you think.
Remember: Healthy living isn’t about perfection. It’s about making choices, big or small, that honor the body and life God gave you.
You’re doing great, and tomorrow is a new day. Keep taking steps every day.
