This a quote is from A.W Tozer – in his book The Pursuit of God he says this – “God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.”
Let’s start off by letting God do what He does best and that is to provide in His good timing.
I always lock the car with the remote clicker thing but sometimes I forget if I locked it even seconds after doing it…. I don’t think I’m the only one in this, well at least I hope I’m not. So, if I’m close enough I turn around and click the remote about 3 more times, but if I’m not close enough, I will walk back (almost to the car) and the click it 3 times….Of course there are times that I thought I did lock it but then realize when I get back to the car that I didn’t actually lock it.
My timing and thinking are so off sometimes I can’t even remember if I locked the car. So why do we think that our timing is better than God’s…I don’t know but I can attest mine is not.
Just like it says is Isaiah 55:8 - “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”
I am so thankful that God’s ways and thoughts are better than mine.
Another way we deal with timing is when we are trying to get somewhere. We were running late yesterday…. We hurried and got out the door 5 minutes later than we normally do. Not terrible but still behind. When we realized we were a little behind we hurried to finish getting ready and we made it to where we were going just fine with no reason to rush….
We are usually an on time or before time family because I don’t like to be late. I would rather be at least 10 minutes early. I just feel like that is better for me because then I know I’m not being waited on…but of course occasionally late happens.
The timing of things just happens…we can plan and do our best, but we still may not get things right every time.
Like it says is Proverbs 16:9 - We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
We can plan but His plans are better.
We can let the timing of things bother us and control us, but we really need to take a step back and remember what it says in Romans 8:28 - And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
God causes ALL to work together for HIS good. So, no matter your timing, His is better and we need to fully rely in Him and not our own abilities because we can make some missteps, but He does not.
