God Hears Your Prayers

John Piper - “Prayer is the open admission that without Christ we can do nothing. And prayer is the turning away from ourselves to God in the confidence that He will provide the help we need. Prayer humbles us as needy and exalts God as wealthy.”

Connection…. We all charge our devices.

I’m sure at one time on another we have all thought that we plugged in our device just to wake up or look at it later and see it didn’t do something right and it didn’t charge.

I think we can think that way when we pray too. We pray and we know God heard us but then when we don’t get an answer, we think maybe our prayers are stopping at the ceiling. Then we question and wonder if we did something wrong because nothing is happening, and we may feel like a connection wasn’t made.

In 1 John5:14-15 it reads, And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

We need to be confident that God heard us, and He will answer in one way or another.

Almost daily our kids ask us questions. Sometimes if we don’t answer right away, they don’t think we heard them. Other times do answer, and it is either vague or not the answer they wanted so they ask again.

We also do this when we pray. There was a connection this time, but God didn’t give enough of an answer, or we didn’t like the answer we got so we continue to ask hoping for something different.

We must remember that a connection was made, you were plugged in regardless of whether you got the answer you wanted. In Psalm 66:17-20 David is responding like this to a prayer regardless of the answer, he says, For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.

We have prayers that have been prayers, and we feel like no answer came, the exact answer we were looking for came, an answer came but not what we wanted, or an answer came, and it was so vague that you questioned if you heard right.

We wonder about our prayers; did God hear me? Will He ever answer? Discouragement comes and questions arise but let me encourage you… No matter the answer a connection was made. Sometimes no response is an answer. Sometime vagueness is all we get because the time has not yet come to get the full answer. Sometimes the answer is just No.

There is no power on earth like the power of prayer—not technology, not influence and status, not wealth and resources. Nothing. Your prayer is literally a lifeline to Heaven! Jesus tells us in Matthew 21:22, “You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”

God hears you. He knows exactly what you need. Have confidence in that.
