Fall On Your Knees
It was about 2003, and I was going through a growing period in my walk with the Lord.
I had rededicated my life back to God in 1999, this time with a full understanding of what that truly meant (I was 7 years old when I got saved).
God saw where my heart was headed, what I was relying on, and what I was giving my attention to, and He took it away from me. I needed that jolt.
It was through that stripping away of people and things that I found myself desperate and ready for true and utter change. It was a season where I was literally on my face, crying out to God, asking Him to change me and help me understand. I felt completely out of control and helpless. Nothing I did was working, so I needed Him.
Sometimes that is exactly what needs to happen because we need to rely fully and desperately on God.
He takes away what keeps us from Him.
Lately, He’s been reminding me of this particular time in my life. I’m not sure why, and I am seeking Him about it. I’m asking what it is He wants me to remember, or if there is anything I need to fall on my face for and surrender to Him.
There will always be something we need to fall on our knees for and give over to Him once and for all.
Prayer is a constant commitment and communication that we need to have with God. It’s a way to renew our vows of submission to Him daily.
Psalm 56:12–13 says, “I am under vows to you, my God; I will present my thank offerings to you. For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.”
We find faith in the stumbling, and there is growth and trust in the deliverance of the things we give to God.
We are saved because of God’s grace through the death of His Son, Jesus; we owe everything to Him. When we come to Him asking for forgiveness, we are taking a vow to follow Him and have a committed relationship with Him. So be ready, at any point, to find yourself on your face seeking His help and deliverance.
This walk with the Lord is not easy. He is a Father who corrects His children. He is a Father who protects His children, and He is a Father who lovingly guides His children.
Ephesians 4:21–24 says, “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”
As we walk with God, we change and shift, and His parenting will always be needed. Though we change, He never changes, and that consistency is what we need and what we can rely on when seeking His wisdom.
The way we seek the Lord with all our heart and soul is through reading His Word and praying. It is through that communication and intimate relationship that we find Him and are filled with what He has for us. It is where we are renewed by the Spirit.
That’s exactly what I needed back in 2003. I needed renewal. I needed correction. I needed understanding. I needed to relinquish many things and give everything to Him. I needed to be shown what I was placing above Him.
I’ve walked through this many times, and I will continue to throughout the rest of my life because I am always growing.
If we don’t seek the Lord, we can become stagnant in our spiritual growth and our relationship with Him. Falling on our knees is necessary because of the continual change happening within us. We do not know all things like He does. We will always need our Father and Creator. We will always need to seek Him in all things. We will need guidance, wisdom, and understanding.
I continually pray and ask the Lord to help me as I walk with Him because I want Him to be first in my life.
Deuteronomy 4:29 says, “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
I want to encourage you to seek the Lord with all your heart and soul. Ask Him to reveal anything in your life that needs to be corrected or adjusted.
Fall on your knees and seek Him daily for renewal.
