Faith, Hope, Love

ree

Today, we’re diving into three of the most powerful words in the Christian life: faith, hope, and love. They’re not just pretty words we put on coffee mugs or wall décor—they’re the heartbeat of what it means to follow Jesus.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) says, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

Think about that—of all the things that can fade or fail, these three endure. Faith anchors us when life feels uncertain, hope keeps us looking forward when the road seems long, and love ties it all together, reminding us of God’s heart for us and for others.

So, let’s explore how these three can show up in the ordinary moments of our day—from the carpool line to the grocery store aisle—because God’s love isn’t just for Sundays, it’s for every part of our lives.

There are anywhere from 230–500 scriptures in the Bible that talk about faith and other words related to it.

There are so many stories related to faith in the Bible because it is important for us to have faith, to walk in faith, and to know that no matter what, we can have faith in the Lord. Jesus mentions many times through healings that those were healed because of their faith.

Faith should be present regardless of seeing signs and wonders, though. Faith is the complete trust or confidence in someone or something—it is loyalty and commitment through our belief in God.

In Hebrews 11:1, it confirms the aspect that we should have faith without seeing.

We often rely on our feelings more than we do our faith.

Your feelings don’t determine how you live life; God does. Our feelings can lead us down the wrong path. The Bible tells us to guard our hearts, and with that, we need to rely on God and our faith in Him and not how we may feel.

Don’t give power to what can mislead. God is the only true source to guide us and lead us because He is a strong anchor to the reality of this life we live.

That’s why, when life feels uncertain, our faith in God anchors us. Our hope is what continues to drive us forward, and our love for God is what ties all things together.

Our hope is in the Lord, and it comes from the Lord. The Bible tells us that God is our rock and our salvation, and when we hope in the Lord, we will not be shaken.

Hope gives us expectation in God and that He will do what He says He will do. Hope is how we endure and keep moving no matter what, and we have the ultimate hope that Jesus will return.

We are a hopeful people whose faith is in a loving God, and with that, we are able to live life no matter the hardships that we face because God is a truth and trust that we can stand firm in.

In 1 Corinthians 13, it tells us that we can possess all things, but if we do not have love, then we have nothing and gain nothing. In fact, it says that love protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. Love never fails.

Our scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 13:13, which says, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

This is why we should always love and show love no matter what. God says, and Jesus confirms, that love outweighs all.

We can wear and display faith in many ways, but where is your faith when it really matters? Are you living it out as much as you’re wearing it?

Think about it this way: when you are in the midst of something frustrating, hard, and you feel overwhelmed and out of control, is your faith driving you in your decisions, or is it your emotions that are leading the way?

We are emotional beings, and we can really let those take the lead without even knowing it, because they can be knee-jerk reactions. But what we should be practicing is observing, processing, praying, and then responding. Easier said than done—I’m very aware of this—but it is important for us to live out the faith, hope, and love that God wants us to live out, and we can best live that out by seeking God first.

Each of us has had seasons of life when our faith was shaken. I know personally I’ve had a few times when that happened. It was the choices I made that really determined my way through.

Think about it: when you are going through a tough time, you can make choices that can totally change your path—from a new job to words that we may not have meant to say and so much more—and all of this because our faith has been shaken.

This is why it is important for us to know God, know His Word, and trust Him in the highs and lows of life and not make decisions without Him.

To have faith that He will see us through and hope that it will get better because He is a God who loves us beyond measure.

Our scripture for today is 1 Corinthians 13:13, which says, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

Have you ever hoped that something would happen, and it didn’t? The first thing to go in that is most likely our hope. We start questioning things and wondering why, and then we realize that because of our hope in that thing, we were let down.

Hope is a gift from God. He has said that when we pass from this life, there will be a new life, and as Christ-followers, we believe and hope in that because we have faith in God, trusting that His promises are true. We should place our hope in the Lord and not our desires or the things of this world.

Getting our hopes up isn’t a bad thing at all, but the best thing we can do is to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and know that through His love and faithfulness, there is a future.

Faith, hope, and love—words that we carry with us and words that we know we need to live in.

In our humanness, we can waver in our faith, hope, and love when it comes to others, but God tells us and gives us so much proof that He is the only One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore, our faith, hope, and love in the Lord never need to waver.

The Bible also tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to do unto others as we would do to ourselves—all ways of God teaching us to love as He loves.

No matter what others do, we can look to God and know that He is our foundation, and we can love as He loves because He is with us and guiding us.

Faith, hope, and love apply to our walk with God and in this world, but they also apply to how God is with us as well.

God knows us better than we know ourselves, and He is continually faithful, hopeful, and loving to us.

It is important for us to walk in faith, knowing that we don’t know what tomorrow holds, but our God does. That even when our hope fails, God never fails, and when we question our love, God’s love is never-ending.

Learn how to walk with faith, hope, and love in the Lord so you can walk those out in your daily life.

Let’s take these three simple yet profound words with us. Faith—trusting God even when we can’t see the whole picture. Hope—holding onto the promise that His plans are good, even when the road twists and turns. And love—the greatest gift, the one that changes everything.

1 Corinthians 13:13 reminds us that these three will last forever. When the world feels shaky or loud, remember the things that endure. Maybe today’s a chance to offer a little extra love to someone, to encourage a friend who’s running low on hope, or to take a small step of faith even when you’re unsure.

Carry these three with you today, because they don’t just shape your life—they can ripple out and touch everyone around you. Faith, hope, and love: three simple words, but together, they point us straight to the heart of God.
