We know things we are capable of but when it comes to something new, do you think oh I can do that OR would you more likely say, I know myself and I’m not sure I can do that?
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
We shouldn’t limit ourselves because with God all things are possible.
Just yesterday, my husband was showing me something, and it felt like a foreign language to me. He said, “Well, I’ll just have to teach you.” I looked at him and said, "I don’t think my brain has the capacity to learn that."
I limited myself before even trying, and that is because I know myself. I know what and how I’m capable of learning, and learning something new that is so detailed can be very hard for me.
Matthew 17:20 says, “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
If I had enough faith in the fact that I am probably more capable than I give myself credit for, then I might be willing to try and do more things.
So often, we get stuck in the loop of our routines and limit ourselves from trying and doing something new. Because of our routines, we can become so rigid when it comes to doing or trying something new. Our schedules don’t allow time for it, or we worry our intentions will be disrupted, so we pass.
If God called you to something and your first thought is, "I can’t do that because…", then you are limiting yourself and God.
Noah, I’m sure, struggled with the fact that he didn’t know how to build a boat and that they had never seen rain. I’m certain that because of his faith in the Lord, he knew that if God said it, it is true, and what God says we shall do.
Psalm 147:5 says, “How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!”
If God calls you to do something and you have no clue how to do any of it, just know that He will equip you.
Moses was someone who questioned and pleaded with the Lord about five or six times. He doubted his ability because he could not speak well. So, God provided someone to help Moses. God gave him all the plans; He laid it all out, and still, Moses was so focused on his own ability and not what God could do.
Exodus 3:11-12 says, “But Moses protested to God, ‘Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?’ God answered, ‘I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.’”
Let us be open to the fact that God will give you all you need and that He will equip you.
