We have so many forms of communication these days and it can be an overload sometimes.
We can be in contact with someone in 4 different ways all at the same time...why?
It is pretty different from when I was little the only way to communicate was face to face or over the phone. Now we can call, text, direct message, email, there are chat forums, voice mail, facetime, the list goes on and on.
These things are with us all the time and our posts and comments follow us around.
How often do we let what others say guide what we do or change how we respond or act?
Colossians 4:6 says, Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Some conversations can get heated. We all know that sometimes through texting the message we are trying to convey can come across so very different then what we may have intended...oops.
We just need to make sure we are being intentional with our words and that what we are trying to say comes across the way we mean them.
I am that person that will write something and read it 5 or 6 times before sending, posting or deleting. I have even deleted after posting.
Discernment and wisdom is what we need. We need this in sending and receiving messages, so we know we sent what we wanted and we responded in a way that is appropriate.
The way to make sure we are being kind and coming across in a way that is kind is to focus on God and allow Him to guide our words and actions.
Proverbs 18:20 reads, Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.
Our words not only affect those we are in conversation with but they also affect us because we do listen to ourselves a lot.
Speak in kindness to one another and yourself. Have discernment when sharing and commenting.
