About the event
STAND with the DFPS Faith-Based and Community Engagement Team, committed child welfare board members and local churches as we unite to collectively support children and families involved in the child welfare system. Discover how community partners like CarePortal meet the needs of foster and adoptive families by matching them with local churches who can fulfill those needs.
Two Texas pastors have brought the foster care crisis to the national forefront. During the mid-1990’s Reverend W.C. Martin and his wife, Donna encouraged 22 families to adopt 77 of the most difficult to place children in the local foster care system. Their courage and faith was the inspiration for the movie Sound of Hope: The True Story of Possum Trot
