How to Accept Jesus Into Your Life
1. Recognize Your Need for Salvation
We all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard. The first step is acknowledging our need for forgiveness and recognizing that sin separates us from God.
Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2. Believe That Jesus Christ Is God’s Son
Salvation comes through faith—believing that Jesus is who He said He is: the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again.
John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 10:9 — “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
3. Repent of Your Sins
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It’s not just feeling sorry—it’s a change of heart and direction.
Acts 3:19 — “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
1 John 1:9 — “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
4. Confess Jesus as Lord and Savior
Publicly declaring Jesus as your Lord is part of truly following Him. This means surrendering your life to His leadership and trusting Him daily.
Romans 10:10 — “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Matthew 10:32 — “Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven.”
5. Receive God’s Gift of Salvation
Salvation is not something we earn—it is a free gift from God. All you must do is receive it by faith.
Ephesians 2:8–9 — “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
John 1:12 — “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
6. Commit to Follow Jesus Daily
Accepting Jesus is the beginning of a new life. Spend time in prayer, read the Bible, connect with other believers, and grow in your faith.
2 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
Luke 9:23 — “Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.”
A Simple Prayer of Salvation
If you’re ready to accept Jesus, you can pray something like this from your heart:
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness.
I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead.
Today, I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life.
I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.
Thank You for saving me.
Amen.
