Do you ever wonder about God’s sense of humor? I’m sure we all have at some point. Well, I know in reading the Bible there are parts that were very sarcastic so in that it seems that we have attributes of His character I’m I know that humor and laughter are attributes we get from God.
Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
Let’s be cheerful and of good heart.
My daughter laughs all the time. She is so goofy and silly. She is a joyous person for the most part and one day when she was younger, I told her that she was just born with laughter and a fun spirit, and I hope it stays that way. She has carried those words with her and even used to tell people that. She is proud of that.
God is the Creator of all things. This means that He made laughter. Laughter is good and every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). Therefore, I would say that laughter is a gift from God. Having the ability to show our emotions is a beautiful blessing. We are able to communicate with others in clear ways and soak in the moments of joy and happiness that the Lord provides.
Romans 15:13 says, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
To overflow with joy because the Lord sounds like something I want to be apart of. There are people who just exude joy, and I think that is amazing. So, let’s get to some music that gets us into a joyful mood.
So often we hear about the struggles and the difficulties that we face as Christians. However, God created joy and humor. Think of the most joyful person that you know. What makes them smile or laugh? How does their attitude affect their days and your own? I can think of some very joyful people in my life. Their smile and sense of humor literally cause happiness to fill my heart. Their lives release the joy of the Lord. It is refreshing to just being around them. Their joy is contagious, and I can then find myself feeling more joyful just by being around them and then by the end of my day I’m the one that has been spreading that same joy.
Ecclesiastes 3:4 says, “A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
The Bible is clear that there is a time for us to laugh. Obviously, it is not appropriate to laugh during a somber event or a serious conversation, so don’t sit next to me lol; however, there are moments when laughter is welcomed, and we should enjoy the blessing.
Laughing with your people and your community is so joyous and something I think the Lord loves the sound of.
Luke 6:21 says, “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”
Although we will have troubles in this life, we can be guaranteed that one day we will laugh again. Sometimes when all we see are looming clouds, we forget that the sunshine is right behind waiting to be seen again. In a similar way, when we are down, we can know that God is right there, and His joy is accessible through the Holy Spirit. Even though hardships last in the night, joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
The Bible says that laughter is from God, useful in praise, a symbol of victory, and part of the joy of a Christian life even after hard times. The joy of the Lord is our strength. The Lords strength and joy are new every morning and laughing without fear of the future is knowing that our faith is in the Lord. So let us always look to find the Lord in all things.
