Frist Responders - Every 1st Thursday of the month we recognize our first responders. Today is that day for this month.
Prayer - “Lord, please protect the brave men and women in my community who serve as police, firefighters and paramedics. Please guide these men and women and help equip them mentally, physically and spiritually to confront the scenes and scenarios set before them. I pray for strength and for Your guidance. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
First responders offer life-saving assistance for people in their gravest times of need. Firefighters, police and paramedics often go above and beyond the call of duty, risking their own health and safety to serve and protect.
Matthew 5:9 - God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
We pray this as well over our first responders, that God blesses then and gives them peace.
There is a first responder in the Bible… In Luke 10:30- 37 we can read about the Good Samaritan. A Jewish man was traveling and was attached, and many passed by him and only one helped him. The good Samaritan. That was unheard of for a Samaritan to help a Jewish person, but that man did not care. He saw a need and he helped.
Our First Responders are not ones who will pass by when they see someone in need, and they will do all they can to take care of the person in need.
They see through a different lens than we do and that is through the lens of protection and aid and we are thankful for that and their ability to think on their feet to do what it is that needs to be done.
Sacrifice is what our Frist Responders do. They sacrifice a lot more than we probably realize and they take responsibility for protecting you and me. Without question this is a selfless act job and they do it well.
We can see all throughout the Bible that God uses many in the same selfless acts. Moses and Aaron, David fighting Goliath, and then of course Jesus.
Romans 5:8 - But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
God has always chosen people to help others and our Frist Responders are apart of that group.
