Come As You are.

"Brokenness by God is beautiful to Him. It is His passageway to purity. It is His entrance into intimacy. It is His plan for our maturity in the faith. However, it is painful and not always pretty. We can become stubborn and selfish in our way of doing things. We need the tender touch of our Lord to lead us away from a hardening heart to one that is broken before Him."

My daughter was putting a puzzle together, and she ended up taking it all apart because she was missing one piece. Sure, she could have finished the puzzle without that piece, but she didn’t. She stopped because she couldn’t find the next piece she was looking for.

We can do that when it comes to Christ too. We might think that we need to have all the pieces in place in order to take the final step of asking Him into our hearts, but we don’t have to do that. We can come to him at any time.

Galatians 6:9 says, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

When we push forward with God, the harvest of blessing will come.

In high school, we are self-conscious, and in our 20s, we are trying to figure out who we are. That was me, anyway. I knew God, but I wouldn’t say I was all in with him. I knew I could come broken, but still, I didn’t feel like I was worth it.

In college, God started working on my heart. He broke me a time or two and started putting me back together, and that has continued ever since.

He is filling the voids. You don’t have to try to do that; God is the one to do that.

Jeremiah 18:1-4 says, “The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, ‘Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.’ So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.”

Sometimes we are put together, and He will have to take us apart to put us back together, and sometimes we are just broken. But God will put the work in and get the puzzle of who we are put together in ways better than we thought it could be.

There is no checklist when it comes to Christ. God is more concerned with knowing our hearts are ready to accept Him than where we are on our checklist.

That checklist you have is for your own good. God sees you in all forms and at all times. He knows you, which is why nothing has to be in order but your heart.

1 Corinthians 8:6 says, “But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.”

This verse makes things simple for us. There is one by whom all were created and one through whom all were created. God spoke it, and Jesus did it.

God the Father and Jesus created you and know you, and therefore know your heart. So don’t worry about having it all together. Come as you are.
