Excuses, excuses, excuses....we all have them

Excuses, excuses, excuses…. we all have them; we all use them to justify things we don’t want to do… Have you missed out on certain opportunities in your life because of excuses?

Let’s not let that hold us back any longer and hold on to the truth and that is that God is the provider of all things.

Exodus 4:10-12 - But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

Moses was giving excuses to God on why he couldn’t go and free the Israelites. But the Lord just told him why he could do it and that He, the Lord, would give him the words but then Moses was allowed to bring his brother Aaron to go with him and help him speak. God provided what Moses needed so there would be no excuses.

Many times, we miss out on incredible experiences because, as human beings, we are full of insecurities, questions, or excuses that prevent us from having certain experiences. We have thoughts like: "I can't, I'm not ready for this", "It's not the right time for this in my life" or "I don't feel capable of doing this thing I have in my hands... it should be for someone else, but not for me".

Don't limit what God placed in you because you live under the weight of something that someone else placed on your life... or what insecurities you have. What labels do you feel define you and limit you in the life that God has designed for you? God is not going to take those labels away from you. He is waiting for you to give them to Him.

There have been times I have felt under qualified to do what the Lord had placed in front of me. There were times I didn't follow through and other times I did and those times that I did I eventually came to understand what I need to. I know that God had provided that understanding and also equipped me with what I needed to do what He had for me to do.

What is your excuse? Decide to remove it and exchange it for open hands for God to use what you have in them and do what only He can do. Remember: He uses the people you least expect.

Jeremiah 1:4-9 - The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.  And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth!

In life you can either make progress or you can make excuses, but you can't have it both ways. When you surrender your labels and begin to see yourself as God sees you, you will begin to progress in your life of faith, mature in your character, and feel renewed in your mind. We can make excuses but the reality of it is, when we trust in the Lord and follow what He has for us He will give us the abilities we need to succeed for His glory.
