We have an Equal Opportunity God

Have you ever embarked on home improvement project and realized early on that maybe you'd taken on something that was above your skill level? You may have even watched some YouTube videos but nothing could take the place of experience. This principle applies to our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We should take time to stop and ask God to help us in every area of our lives. The issues we face could be small or monumental but regardless, they still affect our lives. When we attempt to handle our problems solely on our own, we simply run our of endurance too soon.

1 Chronicles 16:11 "Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!"

Furthermore, our Heavenly Father isn't just present in our lives early on (like when we're saved, for example), essentially looking on us as "set and forget" and then moving on to someone else in need. God doesn't work that way. He is present in every stage of our lives. Now what we ask of Him may change over time, (such as when we're new parents or newly married, for example) but we still need Him nonetheless. He gives us many opportunities to seek His presence in everything we face.

God's wisdom surpasses everything we think we know, despite our society's proclamations that its technology can solve all of our problems. After all, we'd like to have peace and contentment in our lives. Chasing after the world's promises is a fool's errand, which only leads to constant disappointment.

Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

As a kid, I wondered how someone like the President of the United States could make all of their decisions by themselves. It seemed like an overwhelming prospect. My dad explained me that he's always been surrounded by a cabinet and advisors. The same things applies to us trying to navigate this sometimes tumultuous world and seeking God's council along the way.

Proverbs 15:22 "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed."

Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you."

We should seek his council even before we know we have a problem.
