I was looking back at things I had shared on social media 4 years ago these 2 posts that are very similar came up. Both were about looking to God and seeking Him and then being still to wait on God and hear from him.
As we go about our day to day, we can get in the habit of reading our Bibles and praying but what sitting and waiting on God.
Isaiah 32:17 - And this righteousness will bring peace. Yes, it will bring quietness and confidence forever.
This scripture was in my first post from 4 years ago and with it the devo part said. “His grace has forever freed us from needing to prove our righteousness and our worth. So, we remind ourselves every day not to search horizontally for what we’ve already been given vertically.”
So true we need not search this world what for God has given or will give to us.
Often we can be stuck and forget God has given us the tools. He has equipped us to make it through all kinds of situations and seasons this life can bring. We need to remember to go to God, ask him for strength, wisdom, understanding, all the things and then put your confidence in that…He will provide you will all you need and see you through.
In the book the Pursuit of God by AW Tozer it reads
“It is important that we get still and wait on God. And it is best that we get alone with our Bible out before us. Then if we will we may draw near to God and begin to hear Him speak to us in our hearts.”
I have had many times I have taken the time to sit and wait on God it is has brought me closer to Him and then more aware of what He might be saying. But life can become so much or to busy and we hardly have time to get into the Word.
My goal this year is to be more intentional with my time and I want to get back to taking time, to just stop and sit and wait on the Lord.
In Psalm 27:14 it says, wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Before that in Psalm 27:11, David says, teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path.
He asked God to lead him and then waited patiently for the Lord.
Remember if you are going to ask God something you then need to be willing to also wait to hear from Him.
