Sometimes free-time should have a warning label

I'm sure we've all heard or used the phrase from the book of Proverbs 16:27, (that) "Idle hands are the devil’s workshop..." That phrase and biblical wisdom has endured in common language for so many ages because it's true. If we don't watch our steps, boredom can lead to stumbling and then falling in our walk with Christ. It's even more relevant in today's era of 'Instant Temptation'. Online, our list of stumbling blocks has grown exponentially: Debt, infidelity, envy, etc. But if we fill our time with healthy, productive, God-centered activities and pastimes, we can ward off the influences our modern culture chases after.
Proverbs 18:9 "Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys."
Your local church may offer groups and activities that offer an opportunity serve God, and minister to others while keeping you on track in Gods word and away from toxic influences. And you never know, you just might have a talent or ability you never knew you had.
Romans 12:6 "Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith..."
We can probably all look back and wish we could have done more with that day off (and used our time more wisely)...
Ephesians 4:28 "Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need."
God can always direct our steps...even on our days off.
