It's the company we keep

These are difficult times we're living in and the (type of) company we keep can affect us spiritually just as much as anything else. We need the presence of God more than we have in recent memory. We need God among us just as much as we need our loved ones and friends. We're promised in the bible that He's with us when we're gathered in His name.

Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."

And the presence of God (by way of angels) can be revealed when we least expect it too. What seems like an ordinary interaction in our day-to-day lives can, in fact, be much more.

Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

More importantly, as we're bombarded with the negative influences of the world (think TV, the movies, online, etc.), we should continue to pray that much more diligently to keep God's presence in our hearts (and negativity out).

Psalm 16:11 "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

And if we stay cognizant and aware of it, we can feel God's presence in our daily lives. Doing so can positively affect our decision making and behavior. In the same manner that being in a negative environment can cause us to falter, the same thing happens when we're around healthy people and surroundings. The good news is that we're assured God won't abandon us.

Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

If we're influenced by the company we keep, God should be the most important part of that group.
