Learn Something Old

Warren Peay

Lyrics

Sitting on the front porch, black coffee in his hand
Somewhere in the book of John, lost in the words in red
Any chance he got, he'd look me in the eyes and say
Learn something old everyday
There ain't nothing wrong with that old time religion
It's still holding strong, more than passing down tradition
That old red back hymn every now and then's still got a lot to say
So I learn something old everyday
Some call me old fashioned, but I don't fix it if it ain't broke I still
Believe the blood of Jesus is our only hope
And every night I thank Him, when I bow my head to pray
That I learn something old every day
There ain't nothing wrong with that old time religion
It's still holding strong, more than passing down tradition
That old red back hymn every now and then's still got a lot to say
So I learn something old everyday
I got his King James Bible on the day he passed away
He sure left big boots to fill, and notes on every page
And I'm still stumbling down this straight and narrow way
Trying to learn something old every day
There ain't nothing wrong with that old time religion
It's still holding strong, more than passing down tradition
That red back hymn every now and then's still got a lot to say
So I learn something old everyday
Yeah, I learn something old everyday
